Looking for Pop or Classical Cello Instruction?

Masters Institute of Music is thrilled to teach our students the basics of the cello. We are excited to offer our advanced techniques they need to take their musicianship to an entirely new level. Masters provides cello instruction in our Northern New Jersey school to children, teens, and adults.
We understand that some cello students aspire to be professional musicians and others simply want to learn to play great music with a beautiful instrument. This is why Masters offers private instruction with varying focus according to the student.
Our musicians are completely fulfilled when taking our cello lessons because they’re able to learn in a setting that caters to their professional, educational, or recreational desires.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Whether you seek to play cello in front of a large audience or simply want to enjoy the instrument casually, there’s a stage for you here at Masters. Our instructors seek for you to become the cello player you’ve always envisioned. This is why we employ only professional cello teachers and it’s the reason why our school dedicates private time to your instruction.
We invite you to explore the many genres of music that the cello can enhance and complement. Our music school has set up the perfect program for you to expand your knowledge of the cello and reach musical horizons you’ve always dreamed of.
JOIN THE MANY STUDENTS WHO HAVE BROUGHT MORE JOY INTO THEIR LIVES THROUGH CELLO INSTRUCTION AT MASTERS INSTITUTE OF MUSIC.

CHILDREN
We teach our youngest cello students proper posture, and how to hold the instrument and bow. Lessons include the names of open strings and the pitches, and we show children finger positions and bowing techniques.

TEENS
Along with instrument, bow and posture fundamentals, our teen cello students explore simple melodies – traditional and those they’re most interested in. We teach the importance of phrasing, intonation and musicality so that each musician learns the value of creative personal expression.

ADULTS
Many of our adult cello students have extensive previous experience, and they meet with our teachers to hone their craft for competitions and performances. Some are new to the cello and they enjoy learning scales, arpeggios and various technical exercises that forward their development of playing an instrument.
Approach
Masters Institute of Music believes that every cello student should enjoy learning to play. We’re proud to offer instruction in classical, pop, country, folk, and rock cello so that each musician can experience learning the cello in a program that speaks to their aspirations.
To begin as a student at Masters, you’re paired with one of our teachers who will tailor a program just for you. Beginning-level students are able to privately and confidently build a core set of skills, and more advanced musicians achieve completely targeted instruction.

TUITION
Cello lessons at Masters are offered in 30, 45, and 60-minute intervals, with tuition due on the first day of each month (roughly $260 each month). We charge tuition through our monthly payment system and there are no contracts. Our students are here to learn as they desire, and we don’t believe in locking them into binding commitments.
